THE FIRST CALL ABOUT A COLLEAGUE OR FAMILY MEMBER IN DISTRESS

If you suspect that a physician, veterinarian or pharmacist (including students or residents) close to you is struggling with a mental health issue or substance use issue please call us to discuss your concerns. Your first point of contact will be one of our case managers or their assistants.
The PHP is a confidential service provided by the Ontario Medical Association that works independently of the Regulatory Colleges.  You and your colleague or family member can remain anonymous and do not have to provide a name or any other identifying information on your first call.
Our case managers will: 

• Listen to your concerns
• Offer information, options, and advice if appropriate
• Guide you in planning and organizing an intervention if appropriate
• Make themselves available to speak to the person you are concerned about if that person is willing
• Match you and your colleague or family member to the best possible community resources and support for the issue
