The Physician Health Program/Professionals Health Program (PHP) provides a monitoring program for health professional participants in recovery from substance use disorders and or psychiatric disorder and/or behavioural disorders on a personal, face-to-face basis.
In order to achieve this service for participants from all regions of Ontario, a network of regional Primary PHP Monitors is necessary. If a participant is working, monitoring also requires regular reporting from Workplace Monitors in the participant’s workplace environment. In some instances, it is determined that a participant would benefit from the input of a Mentor.
The qualifications required, functions of and reporting requirements for each of the above roles differ.
