In 2004, the Ontario College of Pharmacists entered into an agreement with the PHP to provide case management, advocacy and monitoring for pharmacists and pharmacy students/interns, registered with the OCP who were substance dependent and/or experiencing mental health concerns and had been referred by a College incapacity proceeding.
In 2005, in an effort to increase the availability of support and advocacy services for pharmacists who may be experiencing life or work related stressors, the College collaborated with the Ontario Pharmacists' Association (OPA) and the PHP to bring a broader range of services to pharmacists seeking help. The College believes that by making these services available to all pharmacists, and by assuring confidentiality of the PHP, more pharmacists will access needed care and assistance, thus reducing the risk of harm to themselves and to the public.
